My expertise as an Educational Consultant is built upon experiences of being a Trust T&L Network Lead, a Senior Leader in charge of Teaching and Learning, Professional Learning and Secondary Literacy, and a Lead Practitioner and teacher of History.
During my seventeen years in education, I have become a Specialist Leader in Education and an Evidence Leader in Education which has resulted in me working with a broad range of schools nationally.
Teaching & Learning and Professional Development
As a Senior Leader with seven years experience of leading T&L within schools and across MATs, I have developed T&L within different schools (primary and secondary) and have delivered varying types of professional learning sessions nationally and internationally including areas such as adaptive teaching, scaffolding, assessment and feedback, metacognition, retrieval and attention.
Literacy and Oracy
I specialise in Secondary Literacy and Oracy and I have extensive experience in creating and implementing whole-school literacy and oracy strategies which ensure that they are embedded into the heart of school curricula, whilst also focusing on how to celebrate and elevate Disciplinary Literacy.
I am an Ambition Institute NPQLL facilitator and I have presented at conferences for the EEF and the Research Schools Network as well as featuring on their podcasts. I have case studies featured in published works ‘Unlocking Oracy’ and ‘Disciplinary Literacy in Primary’
History Curriculum and Pedagogy
As a committed History teacher, I draw upon seventeen years of experience as a teacher of History, including my role as a Lead Practitioner. As an Honorary Fellow of the Historical Association, my contribution to the History teaching community has been recognised as significant.
I have spent many years working with schools to develop their History curricula and subject specific pedagogy, both within primary and secondary settings. This has included developing whole curricula from KS1-2 and from KS3-5. My experience working with examination boards to produce resources means that I have a great depth of knowledge of how to develop schemes of learning and assessment materials in order to ensure strong outcomes and I have worked with Heads of Department across MATs to achieve this.
In addition, I have strong expertise in supporting trainee and Early Career teachers in my role as the Subject Lead for PGCE and PGTA History at the University of Buckingham. Commissions have included training sessions for Teach First ITTs and ECTs, including scripts and videos used within their ECT programme delivery.
I am a proud member of the Historical Association (HA) Secondary Committee and have presented at many History events including the HA and SHP regional and national conferences. I have delivered History CPD for PiXL, Teach First, multiple schools and large MATs and heritage venues.
My work with schools includes supporting departments to diversify their curriculums.
Further Study
I have recently submitted my PhD thesis focusing on Equality and Equity within education and I hope to use this to continue to shape educational policy and future specifications.
